Cushnie Opted for Intimacy Instead of the Usual Fashion Week Spectacle

Carly Cushnie opted for a no-fuss presentation that celebrated womanhood and motherhood for New York Fashion Week. Instead of incorporating a runway and having onlookers spew “oohs and aahs,” Cushnie called on her friends to display her Spring 2020 Ready-to-Wear collection. The collection was displayed in the form of a photo shoot, and the iridescent backdrops complimented each look flawlessly.

Cushnie once again created garments that encourages quiet confidence and accentuates the female form. The women chosen to model the clothing included actress Lala Anthony, business executive Bozoma Saint John, jewelry designer Jennifer Fisher, stylist Kate Young, and supermodel Veronica Webb. Cushnie’s very own mother and daughter modeled as well.

Silk fabric was prominently used to create dresses, suiting, and bodysuits that depicted femininity in a way that only Cushnie can. The collection started with dusty pink, cowl neck and strapless dresses. After viewing a beautifully draped white dress, an ochre, criss cross halter bodysuit did Saint John’s immaculate skin tone justice. The hue then transitioned from marble co-ords to teal-esque bodycons and glossy, black bottoms.
