001: Road Trip to the DMV

I finally got my passport, then the entire world shut down a few months later. To prevent myself from going completely stir crazy, I planned a day trip to the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia). Yes, the full expansion in parenthesis is necessary, because someone asked why I was planning a day trip to the other DMV (Division of Motor Vehicles).

For this day trip, the total travel time was seven hours. I knew I wanted and needed to be comfortable because of the distance. Therefore I chose a Garment-dyed coverall jumpsuit in brilliant azalea or pink if you cherish simplicity. Heading up north required additional layers. I added a Tissue Turtleneck in black underneath the jumpsuit, grabbed my Elmcourt Coat in Flecked Herringbone, and wore Esme Velvet Block Heels by Simmi. Lastly, I’m wearing my favorite Warby Parker frames, Kimball, and go-to gold hoops by Madewell.

This wasn’t an aimless day trip. We were on a mission. I’ve been craving &pizza ever since I last visited DC. So it was only right to make this the first stop. Instead of “crafting” my own and in the spirit of trying something new, I tried (and loved the American Honey. Somehow, we ended up with free drinks. Maybe it was the southern charm?

The final stop was Baked & Wired, a family bakery located in the heart of Georgetown. The cupcake options are endless, so I stuck with the classics: red velvet, strawberry, and carrot cake. This bakery gets better with time. I have no doubt I’ll be back to the DMV soon.
